This months demonstration was all about Lazy Susan - (anyone know the history of that?) and Peter Mitchell made it all look deceptively simple.
Both base and top were mounted on faceplates and here, Peter can be seen putting some definition into the base.
A recess has to be cut in both base and top, so that, once joined, the bearings cannot be seen. This picture shows the bearing laid on the top so that the holes can be marked, prior to drilling.
The finished article.
Peter was at pains to point out that the bearing should be oiled with some fairly heavy oil - engine oil, for example and that once you have done that, the Lazy Susan should be kept upright to prevent oil leaking out onto the wood and spoiling the finish which was Danish Oil.
